I’ve been immersed in my ongoing, instant-film, self-portrait project, and so with that has come some disconnection from other foci of my usual photography. Some aspects that have fallen a bit by the wayside include my digital camera and noticing the everyday beauty that surrounds me. Recognizing these forgotten loves, I intentionally shifted my attention in an effort to reconnect with my “big-girl camera” and with the simple pleasures of nature. And wow, I am so grateful to discover what awaited me.
As a lifelong fan of Charlotte’s Web, I can’t resist a spider web…
The dew on these delicate flowers took my breath away…
Like a dream, I was upon a scene that Monet may have painted…
And when I really paid attention, my eye caught this little lady…
I’m grateful to have picked up my digital camera again, and am so pleased with the ways it let me see and reconnect with the everyday beauty this Universe gives us. Have you reconnected with any forgotten loves lately? I’d love to see! Please share a link with us in the comments below!

Meghan ~ Your selfie project shows the benefits of determined, concentrated work (esp. love the image of you walking on the RR tracks), but I’m glad that you found time for your digital camera and Mother Nature! The moment and light in each of these is endearing.
For me it’s not a forgotten love, but a new love that I found this summer in the form of urban/city/street photography. Enjoyed the challenges of the fast pace, trying to predict the “decisive moment”, and being in bold, or at least in stealth mode, for the street 🙂
Here are my city/street sightings:

Thank you so much, Anna, for your kind words on my instant self-portrait project. And thank you for sharing links to your work. I love all of the reflection shots, and I ADORE that dreamy, wavy photo with the 2 people. Is that through a curtain?! Amazing!
Thanks! The image you asked about was created in-camera in one exposure. I was shooting into a restaurant window, so the image combines interior features and reflections of elements on the street. The wavy lines come from a dimensional decoration on the interior wall of the restaurant. Kind of a crazy mix that is hard to sort out visually!
Oh, thank you for this Meghan – I love all those gorgeous details and the creamy bokeh. I really should pick up my dSLR again myself; she’s sadly neglected these days in favour of my mobile and film cameras.
Meghan, I love how you’re making an effort to pick up your “big girl camera” in the midst of your intensive self-portrait project. WOW! And it looks like you are off to a great start! It reminds me to pick up my own Polaroid camera that has been sitting lonely and untouched since we got back from the lake!
Until you named it, I didn’t recognize the focus that sometimes has me shooting all things outdoors and nature and leaving other focuses, like self portraits, aside. And thanks for the nudge!
beautiful shots meghan. glad you decided to reconnect!
I’ve just started meditating again and this reminds me of that feeling of mindfulness. Absolutely beautiful pictures that really draw you in.
What wonderful photos and what a great website, I´m so inspired and hope I can take such photos some day. Wish so much I could win a place in your picture everyday class. (sadly money is barely this time) <3
