komorebi – This is the word the Japanese have for when sunlight filters through the trees — the interplay between the light and the leaves.

I adore komorebi. I have spent hours this summer just watching the light play amongst the leaves: I like to think it’s the mindfulness I have started to practise again which has helped me savour and delight in the simplicity of dancing leaf shadows. My children and I used to call it treelight (our favourite variety is oaktreelight) before we found the official name for it.

Looking through the mobile pool, I can see others have been inspired by the komorebi too. I’m looking forward to seeing how the treelight changes before the winter strips the trees bare.
