It’s time once again for me to tell you about my latest Hipstamatic obsession…the Buenos Aires Pak!

Released back at the end of August, as soon as I saw the images produced from this baby I knew I’d be hooked! The Pak comes with one new lens and two new films inspired by the work of Argentinian fashion and portrait photographer Deigo Uchitel. Born in Buenos Aires, Uchitel came to the United States after high school to pursue his love of photography. He’s known for his portraits of celebs like David Bowie, Jerry Seinfeld, Drew Barrymore, Sarah Jessica Parker and Julianne Moore. His work was been in magazines such as Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue and Elle. And he’s got an extensive and awesome collection of Polaroids that he has taken over the years.

The Diego lens  is described on the Hipstamatic website as having desaturated brushtrokes that invoke cool painterly undertones. As for the films, the Uchitel 20 film style gives a stained desaturated matte look and the Blanko C16 film is borderless with subtle warm desaturations and a hint of color. By far, my favorite combination using this new Pak is the Diego lens with Uchitel film.

I love how the random staining on the border of this “film” gives it an antique, almost historical look. Sort of like something out of a forgotten dream.

These last two images show the difference between the films in the new HipstaPak–the first one is the same combination as all the above photos (Diego lens with Uchitel 20 film) and the second one shows the Diego lens with the Blanko C16 film…
