Given my total immersion in my 365 IMPOSSIBLE Self-Portraits project, it’s no wonder that my mobile photography has taken on a decidedly selfie slant. But recent writings and events prove that it’s not just me — self-portraiture is having a bit of a moment. The New York Times and Canada’s The Globe and Mail both have run recent articles about self-portraits. And perhaps making a bold statement, Oxford Dictionaries named “selfie” as the word of the year for 2013. So, it seems that many of us have been bit by the selfie-bug.
It’s been a full year since I wrote about self-portaits taken with mobile phones, so I thought I was “due” to share some recent favorites with you.
I love playing an alter-ego, and who better than Linda Ronstadt…
A mosaic reflection…
Airplane window light can be the best…
And perhaps my favorite of the recent favorites, out on a a back road in Nebraska…
Do you have a recent favorite mobile self-portrait? I’d love to see it — please share a link in the comments and/or upload it into our Mobile Monday Flickr pool.

I love how your mobile self-portraits reflect a lot of the same sentiment as your Impossible Project self-portraits – just beautiful.
Thanks, Anna. I don’t think I can get away from who I am as a photographer and a self-portraitist, regardless of the medium (film vs. mobile). I think that’s a good thing to see and become aware of my voice 🙂
