What if you could see into the past when you glanced over your shoulder,
and the past smelled of apples and old wood?
What if the air was so warm when you stepped out onto the porch,
that the only road you could imagine walking was a shady forest path?
What if you came back to the City and found it empty
except for the tourists who come prepared to see what you love and love what you see, every day?
Then you would have something to look back on and keep your thoughts warm during a cold winter’s night.
In a few weeks it will be the shortest day of the year. It’s a turning point, the darkest of the dark that we must face before the light starts to come back. We all have different ways of coping with this time; me, I’m reminiscing about that other turning point of the year, in June, when the nights are so short they hardly get started before the sun rises again. What do you do to keep your mind off the dark of winter?
~ Best wishes from Jenny.
Oh wow – this is a gorgeous series, Jenny! I love the dreamlike quality to your images, and of course, that film is to die for.
Thankfully, it doesn’t get too cold here in GA – but, it does get just cold enough to be miserable shooting weather. I always have to remind myself that it is warmer here for a longer time than it is cold, and that the cold will be gone before I know it!
Oh absolutely, the cold can make for miserable shooting weather indeed. There’s a reason why I have a ton of fingerless gloves and mittens 🙂
Jenny, These are full of light and beauty, a perfect antidote to the cold grey winter months. I light some candles, set up my tripod, and embrace sunny days…
Oh yes, candles and a tripod are essential. I only wish it was easier – and less intimidating – to carry a tripod around to use outside.
How fabulous these images are with those words.
Aw, thanks Vanessa! xo
Stunning images Jenny. Like you I remember that the year turns, the days lengthen and light will return.
Lynn
Thanks, Lynn! And yes, I’m grateful indeed for the knowledge that this darkness too shall pass.
Oh Jenny, these are magical! And now of course, I want a spectra. Or maybe just to go back (or forward) to summer!
Yesss, do get a Spectra! It’s pretty magical in itself; I love the big format 🙂
