If you’re just starting out shooting film, you’re probably wondering where to buy it and where to develop it. I thought I’d start a list of resources for just that very reason. I put out a call to my various photography communities to share their resources. What follows is a list of various labs and supplies on three continents in a variety of cities around the world. Overwhelmingly, North Americans buy their film in the United States with multiple options to choose from. Please add your favorites in comments to share with our community! Happy Snapping friends!

I am just starting out and have used Fotofast in Brisbane for developing and to purchase film. http://www.fotofast.com.au. But have heard very good things about ProLab. I also purchase my film from Lofico online. http://www.lofico.com.au . Good service from both. 🙂
I live in Townsville, North Qld and there are no companies close for developing anything other than 35mm. And nowhere to buy anything other than cheap 35mm film either. 🙁
Thanks so much for the links above.
Thanks Cathie! I’ve added them in 🙂
Thanks! Very timely post, I just bought my a film camera after shooting digital for the last ten years. Thanks for the info.
Awesome Kate! Glad to help 🙂
haha she was JUST asking me yesterday.
Perfect!!!
Great list, Holly.
I get all of my film developed at http://thedarkroom.com/
thanks Debbie! I’ve added it in!
I’ve also used The Darkrooom and I’ve been happy with the results!
http://www.digitalab.co.uk/ for film, digital prints canvases acrylics etc etc etc 🙂 brilliant people and quality work (no I don’t woork for them 🙂 )
thanks for the tips! i’ve added them in 🙂
Thanks Hilly!
Just in time! Great resource since I have a B&W film in my camera I just finished.
Do you have any resources for buying the tank and chemicals so I can develop the film instead of sending the film in to a company?
Hi Gabi! Several of the companies up there also sell dark room suppied. Digital Truth Photo sells chemicals as well as has all kinds of great charts. Unique Photo, B&H, Freestyle Photo and a few of the others sell darkroom supplies and chemicals. Shop around to see who has the best price 🙂
lol… I meant “Holly” – sorry 🙂
Awesome idea Holly.
Here’s the best places I’ve found since returning to New Zealand to buy film and have it processed/printed.
Film purchasing & developing: Photo Warehouse http://www.photowarehouse.co.nz/
Developing (all types, hand processed): Film Soup http://www.filmsoup.co.nz
Developing & exhibition quality printing: PCL http://www.pcl.co.nz
This is great Holly, it would be great to get reviews on the film developing places listed for the US as I’ve used two in the list, but still looking to find the place for a hobbiest lime myself…
I don’t know how I missed this post, but it is AWESOME. Throwing my recommendation behind Old School Photo Lab, they’ve always treated me well and I love their processing. I love this list though, I am tempted to try some of the others. 🙂 Thank you for compiling!
