Over the weekend I headed north of Tacoma to Port Townsend, Washington. I was going for a wedding that I was second shooting, but I left early so I could spend some time exploring. I am so incredibly glad I took some time for my own work. Port Townsend is a beautiful little town, gorgeous old buildings, water, shops and restaurants. Bed and Breakfasts, coffee shops, and buskers on the corners.
But what drew me in was the water and sky. I was so glad I had found a pack of film for my Polaroid (moving twice in 6 months makes it hard to remember where things have disappeared, even important things like film). I only took two shots with the land camera, but the two photos I took made me incredibly happy.
Spending a few hours alone with my thoughts and my cameras was just what I needed. When was the last time you gave yourself permission to be alone like that?
“I find there is a quality to being alone that is incredibly precious. Life rushes back into the void, richer, more vivid, fuller than before.”

Such beautiful shots, Vanessa.
I love how you left early to take time for yourself. Beautiful words and sentiment.
